Job Description
We are looking for an energetic Controller with a solid finance and accounting background - specifically with experience in real estate investment, development and construction. The successful candidate will have experience working with financial reports & cash flows in a complex / multi entity environment, and a solid industry background.
Some Must Haves :
Financial Controller or comparable experience
Real Estate Investment finance / Homebuilding finance background - MUST have industry knowledge!
Financial Reports: P&L, balance sheets, cash flows with multiple investors / entities
Strong MS Excel skills
Bachelor s Degree
Ability to manage people and process
Ability to work in VERY fast paced environment / entrepreneurial atmosphere
Ability to help define process / systems in a growing environment
Ability to manage HR functions & work with 3rd parties
QuickBooks or comparable experience
Ability to speak up with new or proven ideas - sycophants will not be considered!
Strategy & Planning
Support development of financial & operational strategies
Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
Support capital request and budgeting process
Development and maintenance of performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
Operations & Management
Oversee the operations of the accounting, HR, legal, tax "departement"
Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
Support investor relations
Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary/affiliate companies
Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
Implement financial-operational best practices
Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
Reporting & Financial Information Management
Maintain annual budget & forecast
Calculate variances from budget and report significant issues to management
Comply with local, state and federal reporting requirement
Oversee the issuance of financial information
Develop and approve investment reports
Provide financial results / investment portfolio financial results to management & investors
Review and approve financial reports internal/external
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts - cash flow oversight and management
Support debt & equity financing arrangements
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
Coordinate the preparation of corporate reports
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Provide for a system of management cost reports
Provide financial analyses as needed
Transactions
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
Process payroll in a timely manner
Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
Maintain the chart of accounts
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Compliance
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Funding
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
Third Parties
Maintain banking relationships
Communications with investment bankers and investors
Participate in conference calls with the investment community
Local only - no relocation available
$75k - $90k Salary range
