Up for sale is this 5 digit Mark VI Tenor saxophone. Serial number xxxx7 dates its manufacture to xxxx. This horn is the real deal,with a rich, full-bodied sound, superb pitch, crisp action and the ergonomic ?feel? that only a Mark VI can give. Responds quickly and easily, from a subtone low Bb up into the altissimo stratosphere.
This was a ?player's horn?. It has seen a lot of action in its 52 years. The lacquer is about 60-70% intact, with numerous wear spots. Not 100% sure if it's original lacquer or not. The engraving is nice and crisp and goes through the lacquer, usually the sign of original lacquer, but a dealer has questioned it's originality, so I can't say for sure. There are no major dents of the sort that would interfere with playability, but there are numerous small dings and wrinkles in the body, evidence of mishaps that occurred over the years.
The horn was recently overhauled; all the pads, corks and felts look brand new. This one is ready to play as is, though you may want to have your horn tech go over it to set it up to your requirements.
