We are currently looking for an Accounting Manager/ Controller for a non-profit group in St George, Utah. The ideal person for the job will be a talented multi-tasker, comfortable working in a fast paced, team-oriented office environment. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Controller oversees and/or performs professional, governmental accounting functions, including reconciliation of bank and investment accounts, preparation of financial reports, auditing and reconciling general ledger accounts; prepare annual budget; contract management and billing; assisting in the preparation of year-end audit schedules and cost reports; payroll; administration of internal control procedures; provides back-up support and performs related work as required. Other duties as assigned.
Job Duties:
Supervises accounting staff; schedules work time and assign projects; trains and evaluates work performance
Oversee or manage accounting processes of A/R, A/P, fixed assets, budgeting, cash management, fund accounting, grant management, month end close and delivery of timely and accurate financial reports
Implement and coordinate all finance, accounting and administrative systems and procedures of the organization
Responsible for the full accounting cycle and manages the overall accounting function of the Center, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB standards as they apply to the agency
Assist CEO in the preparations and maintenance of the Center's Capital and Operating Budget; including preparation of budget guidelines to assist program managers in formulating budgets
Monitors agency expenditures to assure compliance with established budget limitations
Prepares monthly contract billings to the State; coordinates various fiscal activities with state funding offices; manage, track and reconcile all federal, state, and private grants/contracts, including meeting reporting requirements
Works closely with appropriate personnel to develop grant and contract budgets; including computation of projected salaries and benefits, expenses, and revenues for appropriate future periods
Prepare monthly financial progress reports for various grants and contracts
Ensure audit compliance and prepare paperwork that serve to support the audit process
Manage, implement and oversee proper accounting controls and separation of duties
Prepare monthly financial statements including reports for Board review
Coordinate and oversee annual audit process assisting CPA with document collection and explanation to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process
Evaluate, formulate, implement and manage operating and administrative policies and procedures
Forecast future financial needs and cash flow of General Ledger as well as current and proposed programs
Develop policies and procedures that support sound financial positioning
Works closely with CEO in the preparation of an annual Cost Analysis and Financial Summary reporting
Qualifications:
Have at least five years of accounting experience including three years at governmental or non-profit organizations
BS or MS in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance; MPA or Certified Public Accountant preferred
GAAP principles, methods, and practices of accounting and financial recordkeeping and the ability to work within such guidelines
Excellent leadership and supervision skills, outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and work effectively with peers, staff, customers, and the Executive Team
Ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Entrepreneurial mindset'must have a strong grasp of operations, ability to analyze financial and business implications of strategy/ decisions, risk analysis
